• Discuss the mechanisms of action of various inhibitors of lung cancer cells (selective kinase inhibitors: crizotinib, cetuximab, sorafenib and erlotinib; also inhibitors of Src family kinases: dasatanib, saracatinib, bosutinib; and VEGF inhibitors such as bevacizumab; folate antimetabolites: pemetrexed; proteasome inhibitors: bortezomib, as well as advances in understanding the molecular biology and genetics of lung cancer.
• Apply the current NCCN and ASCO guidelines for the management of lung cancer.
• Evaluate in terms of potential patient use recent clinical trials involving novel biologic agents for the treatment of lung cancer with emphasis on efficacy and safety.
